The Controller/Director will also have supervisory responsibilities that will include but not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising and managing performance; addressing all feedback.Role Responsibilities:Manage accounting personnel of various levels on assignments.Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close processes.Review preparation of monthly financials including journal entries, key statistics, various detailed analyses, budget fluctuations, account reconciliations, etc. to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP accounting.Assist senior managers with preparation of Board of Director reporting packages.Prepare or assist in preparation of budgets, forecasts, and related revisions.Review and/or prepare timely consolidations of multiple entities on different accounting platforms.Drive the preparation for financial audit, tax compliance, and regulatory filings and coordinate the audit, tax, and reporting processes.Review business operations, company policies, and procedures; recommend additions and enhancements with the same attention to GAAP compliance, segregation of duties, and controlling expenses.Review cash management processes, including A/P and A/R payments and collections, recommending improvements where possible.Provide finance and accounting support for due diligence conducted during client equity or debt fundraising events and exit events by acquisition or IPO.Prepare schedules for SEC filings by collaborating with appropriate personnel.Review and evaluate revenue transactions for compliance with ASC 606.Review and evaluate complex debt and equity transactions for accounting treatment, documenting the accounting implications of major transactions.Calculate stock compensation expense according to ASC 718.Review insurance for appropriate types and amounts of coverage.Review efficiency of accounting-related software and processes, recommending improvements where possible.Assign duties and examine work for conformance to policies and procedures.Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of the team.Provide support for various accounting projects.Contract review and related accounting.Cash management.Job Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. CPA designation is preferred. MBA a plus.Public accounting audit training and experience, ideally Big 4 preferred.Prior consulting experience with multiple clients at one time preferred.10-15+ years of relevant experience.Strong leadership and supervisory skills.5+ years’ experience managing a team.2+ years’ experience with Ramp and/or Bill.2+years’ experience with QuickBooks Online.Use of Claude or other AI tools in prior position(s) with ability to articulate efficiencies gained.Direct experience with manufacturing clients.Experience managing multi-channel distribution businesses a plus.Strong business acumen, analytical and critical thinking skills.Industry experience in technology (ideally SaaS as well as hardware companies), medical device, and life science preferred including start-up companies.Strong Excel skills and proven ability to model full financials statement budgets and forecasts (integrated P&L, BS, and CF).Effective and credible at managing the monthly close process along with meeting management’s expectations.Able to adapt quickly to the changing demands of our clients.Excellent planning, analytical and people skills.Attention to detail, organized and thorough with desire for continuous improvement.Comfortable interacting across all disciplines of the company.Thrive in a fast-paced, growing start-up environment and work independently when necessary.Superior written & oral communication skills.We seek team members who are curious, collaborative, and committed to contributing within an inclusive environment.
