Mao Miyamoto

Mao is the founder and CEO of M4, a full-service communications agency based in Boston. She quickly grew the firm into a team of marketing professionals, scientific communications specialists, and sales enablement experts, serving over 50 clients in the U.S. and internationally in countries such as Japan, South Korea, Germany, and the U.K. She supported launching more than half a dozen therapeutic and medical device programs and contributed to multi-billion-dollar deals. She combines years of experience in biological research with an evidence-based educational design approach to reimagine science communication as a learning experience that engages various experiential modalities. Through depicting the aesthetics behind each scientific idea, she helps biopharma, biotech, medtech, and hospitals to visualize their complex science while ensuring that the narrative is relevant to and resonates with investors, partners, health care professionals, and patients. Originally from Japan, Mao received a Master of Science in Biology from Kobe University and graduated from the University of Illinois in Chicago, one of only four accredited programs for medical illustrations in North America. She is a Board Certified Medical Illustrator (CMI).
