Deep Networks for Brachial Plexus Nerves Segmentation and Detection Using Ultrasound Images
    Springer
    Sep 2021
The Brachial Plexus (BP) nerves extend from the spinal cord, through the cervicoaxillary canal in the neck, over the first rib, and armpit. BP nerves are mainly responsible for the efficient working of our upper limbs. During any neck surgery, catheter placement is very crucial in precisely locating the BP nerves. The catheter's slight misplacement may permanently damage BP nerves resulting in Erb's Paralysis and muscle paralysis or may take a too long time to regain full patient strength. An automated assistive technique for locating the BP nerves may help medical practitioners detect BP Nerves faster before surgery. In this article, deep neural networks such as a fully convolutional network (FCN), ResNet-34, MobileNet, DenseNet, and LinkN
