You never get a second chance to make a first impression.
The jury is out on whether it was Oscar Wilde, Will Rogers, or my aunt on Facebook who said it first. Regardless, I firmly believe in its truth, and that showcasing company culture begins during the very first interview with a candidate. That first conversation sets the stage for a genuine, two-way interview process and an authentic relationship throughout someone's time with a company.
In addition to the importance of this intentional, human interview experience, here are a handful of other things I believe about company culture, in no particular order:
-A great interview experience helps someone choose a company, a fantastic onboarding experience makes them feel confident in that choice.
-People do their best at work when they are comfortable bringing their true selves TO work.
-Some truly awesome and inspiring conversations take place outside of your immediate team, so creating opportunities for regular cross-functional conversation and collaboration in an organization is key.
If it’s not clear already, I’m abundantly passionate about all things people & culture. Outside of work, you can often find me having a grandma night in with tea and a good book, at a dog park with my mini schnauzer, Rue, or on the hunt for the best soft serve in Toronto.
I'm always happy to connect!
