"Don't quit, suffer now, and live the rest of your life as a champion."
Do you know who said this? Boxing legend, Muhammad Ali.
This quote really hits home with me. So much so, that I am reminded of it daily when I wake up with a poster of it opposite my bed. I feel it represents my whole attitude to life every single day and ensures I keep going until I can safely say ‘Look Josh, you made it.’
Whilst at college, I'll never forget the advice I received from my career advisor. I was torn between choosing business or graphic design to study at university. She advised that I should explore marketing as a career prospect allowing me to bring both my passions together, business and design. As I have progressed along my journey, I've realised one major thing, I LOVE MARKETING and it is safe to say, I owe a lot to that advisor in Coleg Cambria, Wrexham, North Wales.
The psychology behind consumer interests & the customer journey plus the creative and brand management side used within marketing is what really excites me. Furthermore, I enjoy seeing powerful strategic PR stunts helping brands grow their exposure. Eg. In 2019, I loved when Paddy Power revealed their controversial ‘Shirt Design’ in partnership with Huddersfield FC which drew huge attention to both brands for its ‘terrible design.’ I thought it was genius and researching into the strategy, thoughts, insights and data analysis behind it was memorising.
Outside of my career aspirations and interests, I focus on my company, Design97®. During my university 2nd year, I set up the creative agency years after having the initial idea but finally having the support to do it. From this entrepreneurial journey, the experience I have gained is astronomical with the likes of; marketing, branding, client relations, the trademark process, and my personal business knowledge all being developed.
I am always actively trying to grow the business so if you have any advice or require a creative service, please feel free to connect or contact me.
