Fredy Orjuela

I hold a B.Sc. in Physics from Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas and an M.Sc. in Physics from Universidad de los Andes, where I am completing the final year of my Ph.D. in Physics. I am a creative, supportive, and highly committed professional with strong teamwork skills and proven experience leading academic and research initiatives. My research trajectory spans the modelling of dynamic systems and the analysis of satellite imagery, working with longitudinal, cross-sectional, and spatial data. I regularly apply feature-engineering pipelines, machine learning, deep learning, and computer-vision techniques, deploying models in production environments. I am proficient in Python, C++, and R, and comfortable with SQL/NoSQL databases, cloud platforms, and high-performance computing. Between 2022 – 2024 I served as a Data Scientist at Fundación Social Vive Colombia – FUNVIVE 2.0, where I designed end-to-end data pipelines, automated descriptive and predictive analytics with supervised, unsupervised, and generative models, and built interactive dashboards in Power BI and Tableau—reducing report-generation time and supporting evidence-based decision-making for social-impact projects. Beyond technical expertise I excel at communicating complex ideas to multidisciplinary teams in economics, finance, and engineering, and at managing institutional and corporate projects in data science, analytics, and machine-learning engineering. My physics background provides a solid foundation for understanding and building advanced models, while my teaching and mentoring experience fosters collaborative, results-oriented environments.
