After spending 7 years in the digital agency area as either consultant or software developer I'm now in the lucky position to call myself CEO of one of the fastest growing software companies of Austria. With Storyblok we were able to build a content management system that developers actually like and also marketers enjoy using.
We've been struggling with the CMSs in agencies since the existence of the Web and digital projects; literally every project has a necessity to manage some kind of content - be it just a few labels an application uses in a menu or buttons that needs to be translated or a full blown digital commerce project that ships with storytelling components or long article style formats. With Storyblok we've overcome this struggle for us at the agency and in 2017 we've decided to go one step further and release it for every developer, marketer and author in the world.
After focusing purely on product side of Storyblok in 2017 until end of 2019 with two people, we've decided to raise our Seed round of $2.5M and accelerate the growth of our company. We've moved to London to participate in the @FoundersFactory acceleration program which supports us ever since. During 2020 we've grown the team by the factor of 10 and with 2021 we're now at a stage where we support 90.000 project globally for all sizes of businesses be it fast growing digital commerce projects like Stronger, HappySocks or Marc O'Polo or established financial services such as PAYONE or Unzer and raised additional $8.5M to further support our growth. In 2022 Storyblok raised another $47M followed by their Series C in 2024 with $80M in additional capital to expand the company in the AMER and EMEA market.
Storyblok is a headless CMS that enables developers and marketers to deliver powerful content experiences on any digital platform, one block at a time. Developers create flexible components that are independently managed by content teams using a visual editor and customizable workflow. Published content is available through an API, so changes are made once and will appear everywhere: websites, mobile, IoT, AR/VR, and beyond. Leading brands such as Marc O'Polo, PAYONE, and UPC use Storyblok to manage and share their content with the world.
