Advised by Professor William "Red" Whittaker and developed robots for field deployment.
Investigated nuclear waste storage tunnel at the DOE Hanford Site and predicted the tunnel would collapse due to accelerated structural degradation from long-term radiation exposure. Developed a physics-based radiological model and planned robotic exploration and inspection. Built inverted periscope robot for in situ investigation and non-destructive characterization. Supported DOE EM officials following tunnel collapse, which occurred on the day of my semester presentation, and contributed to a white paper to guide emergency response.
Supported mechanical development for:
- RadFerret: to characterize subterranean environments and aid in nuclear inspe
