Director of Product Management, Core Infrastructure @ Fastly | Security, Compute, Edge | PhD, CISSP-ISSMP
Colorado, United States
I lead Core Infrastructure Product Management at Fastly: the foundational platform beneath the entire product portfolio, spanning security (WAF, DDoS Protection, Bot Management, API Security), Compute, Varnish, and beyond. My team's products sit in the request path of many of the world's key brands and services. I report to the Chief Product Officer and lead a team of seven product and technical product managers.
The constant across my career is securing internet traffic at every layer, at increasing scale: AI/ML-driven network detection, cloud security, and an arc at Fastly taking security products from concept to market, including DDoS Protection, Managed Security Service, WAF, and the 24/7 Customer Security Operations Center.
I've spent my career on both sides of applied AI. As a researcher, I built machine learning systems; my PhD in Computer Engineering centered on computational models of visual attention. As a product leader, I've shipped them: from the cloud AI/ML platform behind behavioral analytics to detection of AI-driven malicious activity. Where AI meets Internet infrastructure is ground I've worked from both directions.
I work directly with enterprise CISOs and platform leaders worldwide as Executive Sponsor for strategic accounts, and I lead international Customer Advisory Boards. Before returning to industry, I was an Assistant Professor at Florida Institute of Technology, where I founded and chaired graduate cybersecurity programs.
