I'm a senior software engineer who ships production mobile and full-stack apps end-to-end — and I've done it solo, five-plus times. Before tech, I was a marine biologist and environmental scientist, and I build with that same bias: toward public-interest, civic tech, and sustainable systems. As founder of An App Idea LLC, I design, build, and release cross-platform React Native (Expo) applications across civic tech, property management, and consumer analytics — owning everything from product and UI/UX to backend architecture, CI/CD, and App Store / Google Play deployment. My work spans the full stack: TypeScript-strict Node/Express + Prisma + PostgreSQL backends, Supabase and Firebase, and production AI/LLM integration with Google Gemini (including the Live API for real-time audio) and ElevenLabs. A few things I've shipped: • PINPOINT — civic-engagement platform with AI-powered analysis, SSE streaming, and JWT-secured APIs. • Payback — privacy-first behavioral analytics with AES-256 on-device encryption and GDPR/CCPA compliance. • RentHarbor — property management with real-time sync (Supabase) across native + PWA. • Feng Shui — AI room analysis with Three.js 3D rendering and Skia canvas drawing. • Yap United — real-time multilingual translation over the Gemini Live API. Earlier, I built full-stack features at Human Interest (venture-backed fintech) and shipped React/TypeScript interfaces at Hypercard AI. I teach and mentor engineers at Upright Education and Turing School. I was a panelist at SXSW EDU 2025 ("Behind the Wheel: Youth Driving Tech & Media") and was featured in PBS's "Tech For Us" documentary on public-interest technology. Before all of that: sea-turtle conservation field research in Costa Rica, dive master work across the Bahamas and Honduras, and environmental education from the Galápagos to the Amazon.
