Byron Wade is a seasoned healthcare leader with over 20 years of combined clinical and administrative experience across government, nonprofit, and for-profit health systems nationwide. His diverse background spans prehospital, outpatient, inpatient, and surgical settings, and he was the founder of the largest hospital-owned locum tenens company in the U.S.
Currently, Byron is a consultant with American Healthcare Strategies, where he partners with hospitals, health systems, and healthcare-adjacent companies to navigate the complexities of today’s healthcare landscape. Previously, he led systemwide strategy, physician recruitment, and operations for UPMC, the largest integrated healthcare delivery system in the U.S.
Beyond his professional work, Byron has a deeply personal connection to healthcare. In March 2023, he underwent a life-changing kidney transplant, with his wife, Melissa Wade, as his donor. This experience inspired them to establish the Wade Family Foundation, dedicated to supporting individuals with IgA Nephropathy, raising awareness for transplants and kidney disease, and advancing living donor initiatives.
