My name is Dave Ott. I am a software engineer and technical leader.
I got into software development because I love to build things. I’ve remained in software development because I enjoy the challenges, and because I value the opportunity it provides me to learn continuously. It has also introduced me to incredible people I’ve been privileged to work with and learn from. I am eager to expand my experience by connecting with new colleagues and unlocking new ways of working through exposure to problem sets at different
scales and in different environments.
My role as a leader is to serve my team. I follow principles that allow me to align team members’ sense of purpose with company values and empower them to be creative, autonomous thinkers. I encourage the teams I work with to think and act horizontally. I believe a great team can self-correct quickly. I build resilient teams in the face of adversity and respond to failure with grit, resolute to overcome and bounce back better.
I am a good fit for this role because of my extensive experience at various startups that have had big impacts in their markets. I have built systems from zero and managed teams across different SaaS businesses, B2B and B2C companies.
As an engineer and as a manager, I have worked with several languages and frameworks, including Ruby, Rails, Javascript/Typescript, React, Vue, and others across target cloud deployments ranging from PaaS platforms like Heroku and Vercel to IaaS platforms like AWS.
