South Australia, Australia
Specialist in Information Technology Security with over twelve years of experience in IT environments, including the last seven years focused on cybersecurity, with an emphasis on governance, risk assessment and compliance, security strategy, data protection, and identity and access management.
Currently, I am contributing to the continuous improvement of cybersecurity capabilities within the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) in Adelaide.
My responsibilities include working with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)solutions to enhance the monitoring of logs and security assessments across infrastructure and endpoints. I also provide governance over backup, recovery, and testing processes to ensure compliance with industry frameworks and standards. Additionally, I conduct audits and identify uplift initiatives to improve integrity and security controls, perform risk assessments and analyses to identify gaps in critical systems across various South Australian Government entities and branches, and provide guidance to enhance the implementation of Essential Eight controls within DTF’s critical systems. I am also responsible for identifying cyber threats and supporting incident response activities, among other key functions.
As a cyber consultant at KPMG Australia, I was responsible for conducting risk assessments, identifying potential threats, evaluating IT system vulnerabilities, and recommending effective mitigation strategies and controls to reduce identified risks. I also handled security planning and provided advisory services on selecting security measures, governance, risk management, and compliance.
As the former National Chief Information Security Officer the Administrative Department of Social Prosperity at the Presidency of the Republic of Colombia, I implemented cybersecurity international standards Risk Assessment and Risk Management (ISO 27005:2009); Information Security Frameworks (ISO27001:2013, ISO27002:2013); security awareness programs, and bridged the gap between technical and non-technical users (circa 2100 employees) getting a high level of performance.
Furthermore, as an IT Security Specialist in the South Australian Department of Human Services (DHS), I worked on the risk assessment of the critical business systems under their internal methodology based on South Australian frameworks such as SACSF, SAPSF and international standards (ISO27001:2013, ISO27002:2013, ISO27005:2009).
