As a Founder at Less Meeting, I've worn a lot of hats. Most prominent are working as our Product Manager: designing features from customer feedback, and as our CTO: architecting, scaling and building our front-end, back-end and mobile apps. I spent 6 years learning the project lifecycle of IT projects at large organizations and how to estimate and manage projects. Starting in the Federal Government practice, I got the chance to build high volume software at the Department of Education and the United States Postal Service. I later joined the Mobility-focused group within Accenture and got to work on several advanced technology projects.
As one of my most memorable roles at Accenture, I got the chance to design, architect and lead a team to build an "Apps Platform" for Windows CE. The platform simplified tasks around having a single sign on mobile experience for users within a facility so that they could get access to all - CFounder & CEOCrowdMindCrowdMind helps facilitate better decision making. Combine advice from a group of advisors, experts, or friends, and evaluate the information to calculate your best option.
CrowdMind started as a vision to help people better understand the different rationale for and against a particular opinion. For instance, "Does Global Warming Exist?" - it could detail all of the reasons people believe it does, and does not exist, along with a breakdown of the validity of each of those points. By quantifying the impact of each point, a score could tally the supporting evidence and yield as un-biased an answer as possible.

The challenge was keeping this interesting, funny and engaging for a very long time, while covering a wide swath of information. We covered Promises, Delegates, the Observer Pattern, the Message Bus, Best Practices and Common Pitfalls and the background for why it matters in Asynchronous backends, SPAs and Mobile apps. Examples were in Javascript and Java (iOS removed for this conference).

This post describes my experience creating a "mobile" app that truly solved the problems of communication across food banks. Turns out that an "app" is not always the best course.. Our pivot to a text message routing system won first place, and later turned into a real app for the food bank.
