Chief People Officer
Oakland, California, United States
Sharawn Connors Tipton (she/her). Oakland born. Oakland rooted. Oakland always.
I am a Global Chief People Officer, currently leading People and AI Transformation at Greenhouse Software. Over the last two decades, I've helped organizations navigate growth, reinvention, and complexity across companies including Micron, Flex and Safeway.
What I love most is transformation.
Whether it's scaling a company, integrating an acquisition, preparing a workforce for AI, or helping leaders navigate change, I'm energized by the challenge of turning possibility into reality. Throughout my career, I've led executive compensation, global HR strategy, organizational redesign, M&A integration, and large-scale business transformations globally. Today, much of my work is focused on helping organizations prepare for the AI era: reimagining how work gets done, building AI capability across the workforce, evolving jobs and leadership expectations, and helping people navigate change with confidence. I believe technology can transform businesses, but people determine whether transformation succeeds.
This work is important and it matters. But it isn't the whole story.
The other half of my life looks like this. I was raised in Oakland by my father and my grandmother, Ellen Connors.
When my grandmother could no longer live independently because of dementia, she didn't need a facility. She needed a home that knew her name. So I built one.
Everything I do now sits at the intersection of transformation and care.
I serve on the Oakland Mayor's Commission on Aging because policy determines whether caregivers receive support or carry the burden alone. I served on the boards of Fair Pay Workplace and College Track Oakland because pay equity, economic mobility, and access to opportunity are all part of the same conversation.
Growing up in Oakland taught me that talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not. That lesson continues to shape how I lead, how I build teams, and how I create environments where people can thrive.
Increasingly, I speak and write under two titles: Chief People Officer and "Chief Care Officer". Many of us serve as Chief Care Officers at home regardless of the title on our business card. We care for children, parents, partners, friends, and communities while building careers and businesses.
If you're a caregiver trying to manage both halves of your life at once, I see you. Find me.
CSU East Bay graduate. Golden Gate University MA. Bay Area homegrown.
