Let me do this in Third Person/ Neutral because First Person Singular seems so self-absorbed:
Born into a diplomatic family, Carel considers himself a global citizen who'll admit to being a jack-of-all-trades and master of some. In truth, he’s a published author who wrote his first novel at the age of eight and still has the 400-word manuscript to prove it.
He’s a songsmith who insists on tittling i’s, tattling t’s and exalting alternative viewpoints. He has also been a speech-, documentary-, script- and copywriter, a creative researcher, a sound-engineer, a band frontman, a news editor, a programme manager at a radio station, and an award-winning broadcaster. Currently, he's a sought-after text editor and content generator serving as creative consultant/advertising campaign conceptualiser for companies in Cape Town, Johannesburg and has recently been appointed as Content Manager for Voice123 based in Bogotá, Colombia.
He loves rhyme, rhythm, reading, storytelling, as well as voice-acting, vocal production, and voice-artistry in general. He also prides himself on being totally anal about syntax, grammar, spelling, and punctuation. He has an affinity for the underdog, prefers taking on insurmountable challenges and listening to Beethoven (or Rammstein) while doing so. In his spare time, he collects fountain pens and studio microphones.
Last, but hardly least, Carel loves being maestro Cornell Boshoff's partner in Spiral Staircase Music, trading as The Carnell Collective. Cornell is a gifted composer and music technology wizard who has an arsenal of whizzbang hardware and software instruments at his disposal. Their partnership is much more than a compound noun; it’s a creative crucible. It’s fired by a commitment to excellence and a wealth of experience in the entertainment industry. It has welded together their complementary talents over decades and represents their professional lives as a verb.
"In a trade known for its obsession with the mundane, we're very original. We are who we say we are and we can do what we say we can. No smoke and mirrors here," he winks.
