Commissioner of Virginia Works, the Commonwealth’s workforce development agency
Richmond, Virginia, United States
As Commissioner of Virginia Works, the Commonwealth’s workforce development agency, my job is to help Virginians thrive in theirs. In a world of work that’s changing faster than ever, it is more critical than ever before for all of us to be prepared to navigate the workforce and for employers to find, train, and retain the talent they need. I am honored to be part of the team that’s accelerating the Commonwealth towards a nation-leading workforce ecosystem that works for Virginia’s communities, employers, and individuals.
In over a decade spent with Deloitte Consulting prior to my government service, I incubated and scaled the firm’s Future of Work practice for government, nonprofits, and higher education and was named as one of Consulting Magazine's "35 Under 35." Perhaps most noteworthy and impactful of my contributions was the creation of the Future of Work Institute, a series of microcredentials and learning experiences focused on technological disruption & the importance of “human skills” – like curiosity, adaptability, and problem solving – relevant across all jobs, with a growing network of over a thousand alumni, dozens of participating organizations nationwide, and featured in FastCompany among other publications.
I am a lifelong learner, voracious reader, and passionate explorer of new experiences and adventures (all 7 continents, all 50 states, and now currently endeavoring to visit every US national park). I embrace every chance I have to take the road less traveled and learn from everyone along the way. What can I learn from you?
