I was working again on the runtime platform team in a similar role to what I previously had. However after the promotion I had the added responsibility of leading projects, one of which was converting our fault tolerant applications to utilise newly provisioned spot instance node pools which dramatically reduced the costs associated with the clusters. Also investigating how to leverage KubeFed V2 to manage the growing number of clusters.
  • Expedia Group
    Associate DevOps Engineer

    Sep 2018 - May 2019 (9 months)
I worked on the Runtime Platform team. Predominantly working on maintaining and developing Kubernetes clusters running on AWS. During my time here I contributed to the open source project kube-aws which we used in house to provision and roll clusters along with our own project the ‘Helm Deploy Operator’ which was used to simplify the process of deploying applications to our clusters using Helm as a package manager. I also regularly took part in support for our clusters. I would be the first point of contact for teams wanting to deploy to the clusters, debugging and general assistance, as well as fixing higher level cluster issues.
