What I do is build teams, build product, build roadmap, grow engineers, and steer a nascent idea or product towards a large and bright future. Engineer since 1996, managing people or projects since 2005. Highly technical senior leader who remains involved in determining technical direction (do we have the right technology to execute on the mission?) but cares deeply about personal development of engineers (do we have the right people and support to execute on the mission?). In the last decade technical focus has been on observability, distributed databases, privacy and security products such as firewalls, protection against denial of service, matching traffic, and products that protect end users. In the same period management focus has been on mental health, diversity, and personal development of direct reports.
