I help mission-driven professionals navigate global development careers, because the people doing this work deserve the same care we give to communities we serve. For the past decade at the Middlebury Institute, I've guided 500+ students through career transitions, with 95% securing jobs within a year. I teach career management, facilitate employer connections, and maintain a blog helping thousands make smarter career moves. My approach is rooted in 15 years of field experience: respect for local knowledge, commitment to learning, and belief that sustainable change happens through small victories. Just as I helped subsistence farmers in Niger identify solutions, I now help development professionals discover their unique paths. I recruited for emergency responses (Iraq/Syria, CAR, Ebola, Nepal), managed USAID funded programs across Africa and the Middle East, and started as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Niger working alongside Fulani agro-pastoralists. I'm not a martyr for development—I believe in balance. Like the farmers I lived with, I want to make a decent living and help my children build good lives. Professional service and personal wellbeing aren't mutually exclusive. I respect indigenous institutions before creating new ones, recognize when local staff can do it better, and am happy when I'm trained out of a job. My role is to facilitate, not impose. I've hired 100+ people across the full recruitment cycle—sourcing, screening hundreds of resumes per position, shortlisting, interviewing, serving on hiring panels, and negotiating offers. Roles ranged from technical specialists and chiefs of party to country directors and finance officers. As a Peace Corps recruiter, I nominated 390 volunteers with retention rates exceeding agency averages. What I offer: → 1:1 Career Coaching for early to mid-career professionals in development, humanitarian response, sustainability, and policy → Workshop Facilitation on resumes, interviewing, networking, and salary negotiation → Talent Sourcing & Recruiting (7,600+ LinkedIn connections, 20 years of relationships) → Candidate Pipeline Development for technical, operational, and program roles I know this sector from village programming to HQ strategy, from USAID implementing partners to UN agencies.
