  • TeamTonic
    Co-founder & Lead Designer
    TeamTonic
    May 2021 - Nov 2024 (3 years 7 months)
T&T is a remote designer outsourcing service that I co-founded with a simple idea in mind: offer the best ROI on design work via a blend of junior and senior designers.

Except juniors don't really give the best ROI, especially when you need stuff done ASAP and without dropping the ball (90% of the time for startups).

And the designers I was calling senior at the time were in fact mid-level (I came from an agency setting where 5 years of experience makes you a dinosaur).

So we pivoted to a more traditional outsourcing model. Better, just slightly too traditional IMO, and not as efficient as I wanted it to be.

Accomplishments (not that I'm super proud, but there is some progress since WhatsOn and
  • UX STUDIO

Clients served: Greenpeace, Gofundme, Zignaly, CrowdStrike, Magicbricks, Xeropan, DAR, TrustDale, Uxfol.io, Ziwo (Shoutout to Eric Ouisse who is a legend), Cloudcoin and Hierographics (Best devs ever).

UX Studio is a leading product design agency based in beautiful Budapest. Ranked #6 worldwide in its industry by Clutch.co and proud partners of Google, Netflix and HBO among others, UX Studio designs digital products people love, and share their knowledge via their blog and on-site workshops.

As a UX Researcher, my role was to study user needs
  • Appfluence Inc
    UX/UI Designer
    Appfluence Inc
    Jul 2018 - Jul 2019 (1 year 1 month)
I applied for a sales job at Appfluence (the company behind Priority Matrix) because I needed to fund WhatsOn, my nightlife app.

After the interview and sales challenge, the CEO Hai Nguyen offered me the job.

I thanked him, but told him that IMO, what he really needed was a designer, not a sales rep.

Lo and behold, he offered me the job as the first-ever designer of the company.

I was so thrilled. I set my title on LinkedIn as "Lead Product Designer", probably hoping my connections wouldn't notice I was also the only designer on the team.

I wasn't really in SF though, but the founders were. I guess that counts, right? I mean, who reads this far anyway?

    Jokes aside, I redesign
  • W
    Founding UX/UI Designer
    WhatsOn
    Sep 2017 - Dec 2018 (1 year 4 months)
One sunny Spanish afternoon around 4:20pm, my good friend Andrés from Uni, had an idea for a nightlife app that would help its users find the best bars in town with little to no effort.

    Visionary.

✅ The problem we solved: not being able to find a bar.. in Spain
✅ The business model: referral commissions from bars & clubs that serve broke students and essentially compete on who offers the biggest discounts on the cheapest alcohol
✅ Luckily we had no competitors. Just Google Maps, Yelp, and Instagram, but those are indirect.

    No red flags detected.

So I accepted to step up as a Founding Designer and proudly led the design of the MVP, from product discovery and concept validation to develop
  • EVBox
    Content Marketer & Business Developer
    EVBox
    Feb 2017 - Sep 2017 (8 months)
EVBox was—at the time—a global leader in EV charging stations.

"With an installed base of over 500,000 charging points across more than 960 cities worldwide, EVBox drives sustainable mobility by bringing the leading EV charging solutions to the world."

Amsterdam was even rainier than expected, but it was nonetheless an exciting first real-life startup adventure. I thought I was going to save the planet and capitalism at the same time, just imagine.

BTW it was actually an internship, I just don't want skimmers to know. Also, it was paid $1.200/month, which is fairly okay. That was back when EVs were cool.

    Anyway my responsibilities were:
    - Content marketing: e-books, whitepapers, landing page
  • S
    Founder
    Santa Secret Services
    Jun 2008 - Sep 2008 (4 months)
Santa Secret Services was a retail plant-based THC-derived inhalables delivery service.

I raised $700 from my dad, god rest his soul, to cover the costs of the delivery vehicle, a secondhand Piaggio Typhoon 50, as well as the initial inventory.

Over the course of a summer season, I operated the business profitably, enabling the financing of my personal pursuits and the purchase of my first computer.

I remember it as an entertaining but stressful business.

    Pros:
👍 accessible client base within my network
    👍 50% profit margins
    👍 favorable taxation

    Cons:
    👎 Regulatory challenges
    👎 Banking & financing difficulties
👎 Social stigma around natural remedies
  • The Pokémon Company International
    Independent Reseller
    The Pokémon Company International
    Mar 2001 - Apr 2001 (2 months)
At age 7, I founded Mazo Tazo, a popup retail stand that sold Tazos at my school during lunchtime.

Tazos were the ultimate early-2000s collectible: circular disks featuring Pokémons, wildly popular among kids and often scored as prizes in chip bags.

They were won and lost through flipping battles and traded like playground gold. Also, since I was in a pretty private school (in Ibiza), the demand turned out to be rather elastic.

So much so that one day I ended up selling a Master Tazo (that came in a bigger bag of chips) to a 2nd grader for $12.

Assuming the bag of chips cost $1 (I don't really remember), that's like a 12x ROI.

Plus the chips, which were distributed to my best customers,
