I dropped out of uni at 18 and started taking 70 calls a day in a Liverpool call centre. Fast forward 25 years and I was living in Berlin, leading Tesla’s Insurance Operations in the UK and Germany.
The journey taught me two things most insurance consultants miss:
First: Regulation isn't something you "do" at the end. It's the foundation. When you build it wrong, you lose years fixing it. When you build it right, you scale.
Second: Insurance should work better for customers. Most products look the same and are built on years of "industry best practice" - think 40 page policy documents, lots of exclusions, similar proxy based pricing. I approach insurance from a first-principles basis: What should this product actually do for the customer? Then build from there.
As Co-Founder of Resnova, I help automotive OEMs, international insurers, and insurtechs do what I spent 25 years learning: Build regulatory infrastructure that scales AND products that customers actually understand. Not compliance theatre. Not "we've always done it this way." Actual first-principles thinking.
I'm also a Non-Executive Director at Zego, where I rebuilt and scaled the Gibraltar carrier. I’m writing the Insurance Decoded series—books that explain insurance simply.
Let's connect if you're:
- Entering or expanding into UK/EU markets (OEMs, international insurers, insurtechs)
- Rebuilding carrier or insurance infrastructure that doesn't scale
- Creating insurance products from first principles, not industry conventions
- Looking for someone who's actually done it, not just advised on it
Drop me a DM or email, I reply to everyone.
