Caroline Dewitte

I am the co-founder and the COO of Oklo. I have worked on technologies including solar vehicles, advanced fission, and oil and natural gas. I have also worked with think tanks, engineering standards societies, intellectual property, government agencies, defense (in the pentagon and with military contractors), and marketing. I have been involved in 10 start-up projects, and been a founder a couple times. Working on race teams, both the formula and solar team, taught me most of what i needed to know from engineering before and beyond any coursework. It was an invaluable experience to design and simulate and spend those many days in the machine shop to CNC, lathe and mill, and the many nights at the garage to assemble and test, and the many saturdays driving our old truck and trailer, fundraising and marketing. Working at the Office of Technology Development in IP and at the beginning of the Business Development office and a technology commercialization program utilized both my engineering and economics degrees, working on isolating valuable IP, building teams around each, and business consulting for each. At MIT, I did 3 years of research on air ingress in HTGRs. After MIT, I did very different things- marketing, consulting, and bootstrapping as Oklo was created. I have been the first author of several published papers as well as my thesis in safety analysis on HTGRs. I am one of the youngest recipients of the University of Oklahoma Regent's Award for Outstanding Alumni. I care deeply about the environment and health, which underlies my dedication to making advanced nuclear energy a reality.
