    A magneto-aerodynamic bleed system feasibility study has been undertaken with the intent of improving the shock swallowing ability of high-speed engine air intakes. Past research had shown bleed slots to effectively remove sufficient mass flow of air from the system to permit normal shockwaves present in the intake to be swallowed. Two dimensional bleed slots are the focus of this study, where appropriate structured CFD grids have been developed for use with the Fluent CFD application. User defined functions (UDFs) were written and complied to simulate the presence of static charge generation. Solutions to numerous cases revealed that bleed slot angles, magnetic field strength and field position all affect how a bleed system performs. Altho
