A former boss taught me to always be objective while facing problems: “Blame the system, not the person”.In any system, I’ve always been amazed at how software can bring transparency and efficiency to processes. It often helps me trace what went wrong and then prompts the people involved to drive continuous improvement. Still, I feel there’s more potential to reduce human error and eliminate tedious processes. This is how I envision value-driven software products.Currently, I work as the Data Lead at Otoklix, an early-stage startup in the automotive aftermarket space. As much as I believe in the value we create, I also adhere to a few core principles in building value-driven products: (1) timely go-to-market releases through validated iterations (2) a cohesive yet autonomous engineering culture (3) strong business-product alignment. We've recently focused on building data products, including curated datasets, dashboards and AI-powered conversational agents. The key to innovation has been creating a centralised Single Source of Truth (SSOT) and strengthening it with a solid data quality framework. Our guiding principle? Do just enough with data, budget, and research to produce a good enough product. My previous experience in tech roles at not-for-profit organisations taught me to design solutions with empathy. Often, the users I worked with weren’t always clear about what they wanted, but I used a collaborative approach to brainstorm and co-create solutions. From these experiences, I learned that:(1) My assumptions can be as sharp as a knife or as dull as a stick(2) Continuous progress is valued more than intermittent perfection(3) Usability should always come first; the fancy tech can followI enjoy meeting people who are passionate about digital products, data, and building teams. If that sounds like you, I’d love to connect on LinkedIn. Outside of work, I’m into books, vanilla ice cream, and '80s music.Areas of interest: Data & AI Strategy, Tech Unit Economics, Data Modeling, Data Product Development, Team Building, Agile Development, and IT Service Management.Current tech stack: dbt, Snowflake, SQL, Python, Metabase.
