I believe the security operations model is one of the last things in the enterprise to catch up with the AI era — and the gap is becoming dangerous. Most platforms were built for a world that no longer exists -- human-speed, perimeter-based, optimized for alert handling rather than decisions. The more AI is deployed across the enterprise, the more exposure grows — especially as non-human identities multiply and the blast radius of any autonomous action expands.
At Anomali, we are building the answer: a governed decisioning layer that augments or replaces SIEMs, connects natively to data platforms, and eliminates the fragmentation that has defined a decade of security operations. Where others generate alerts, Anomali drives outcomes — grounded in a decade of operational contextual memory and a quantitative model of every human and non-human identity in the environment. Not AI bolted onto a SIEM. The layer that governs the entire stack.
That conviction comes from somewhere -- four decades across continents spanning consulting, BHP Billiton, Avery Dennison and Silicon Valley’s enterprise software cycle. Running public companies, serving as Executive Chairman and investor in private organizations (2016 – 2020), and operating across multiple domains in enterprise software and cybersecurity. It is rarely the best technology that wins. It is the clearest conviction about where the world is going — and the patience to build toward it.
Outside Anomali, I am adjunct faculty at the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University, where I teach Contemporary Business Issues and guest lecture in the MBA program. I have also served on the boards of the Pasadena Symphony Orchestra, United Way, and Junior Achievement.
