Three times, I've sold a technology before it had a category.
Web analytics in 2005, on the core team that launched Google Analytics.
SaaS management in 2020, where I closed the largest deal in Productiv's history: a Fortune 50 new logo, 11 stakeholders from IT to the C-suite, a 9-month cycle, defended through procurement.
AI in 2023, where our first enterprise pilot produced a 7-figure client revenue lift in 90 days, then expanded us into enterprise retail. Revenue grew 2.5x in 12 months.
Two of those categories I opened vertical by vertical. Automotive at Google, bringing Honda, Mazda, and Rolls-Royce onto Analytics 360. Travel & Hospitality at Aidaptive, found through customer conversations, not a TAM slide.
Most recently: built an outbound motion from zero and personally closed $2M+ in new business in under a year.
I came to this backwards. I started on the AdWords support line, answering phones. Eight months later I was a founding member of the Google Analytics team, and I stayed close to the product for a decade because that's where I learned the lesson that still runs my deals: you can't sell a new category from a script. You sell it by knowing the product better than the buyer does.
That's still how I work. Claude runs through my entire deal motion: account research, customer business cases, forecasting. I've built my own prospecting tools on the API because the ones I wanted didn't exist.
Now I'm focused on enterprise AE roles at AI-native companies, selling LLM and platform technology to organizations still learning how to evaluate it.
