Kernel/Infrastructure engineer turned cloud architect, technology evangelist, and engineering leader. Over more than two decades, I've worked across the full spectrum — from racking servers in data centers to designing cloud platforms, from writing automation scripts to proposing developer experience programs to bank executives.
What has driven every role is the same instinct: find the business problem that actually matters, then build the team, architecture, or program to solve it. Whether it was unlocking a new revenue model through targeted ad delivery at FocusMedia, quantifying onboarding cost to justify a developer experience program at DBS Bank, or helping hundreds of startups find the right architecture for their business at AWS — the starting point has always been the business challenge, not the technology.
My career has followed the evolution of the industry itself: hosting infrastructure at Cafe24 during Korea's early web era, building global data centers and pioneering early AWS adoption at RSUPPORT, constructing private clouds from bare metal at Spark & Associates when "cloud" was still a new concept in Korea, solutions architecture at AWS Korea as one of the first three SAs in the country, technology evangelism across Asia Pacific at Pivotal spreading Spring, Cloud Foundry, and cloud-native practices, developer productivity strategy and DX program leadership at DBS Bank in Singapore, and platform engineering leadership at FocusMedia Korea transforming a nationwide DOOH ad delivery and data platform.
Throughout this journey, I've built private clouds from scratch — architecture design, bare metal provisioning, automation with Shell scripts, Chef, and Puppet. I've delivered hosting services including CDN, video streaming, caching, and database systems at scale. I've helped enterprise development teams adopt cloud technologies by defining KPIs, creating architecture patterns, and running hands-on training programs. I've written reusable code in C/C++, Ruby, Python, and Shell to support developers in seamless transitions. And I've authored publications on Netflix cloud engineering, cloud-native Java, and cloud application patterns to share what I've learned along the way.
I remain curious and hands-on, continuously exploring new technologies through open hardware, open-source projects, and whatever else catches my attention.
