I began my career as a librarian - committed to connecting people with reliable and actionable information. But as I worked in communities across Northern Nigeria, I saw a deeper need: a digital space where local stories, cultures, and languages could thrive. That led me into the Open Knowledge movement through Africa Libraries and Information Association and Institutions (AfLIA).In 2021, I founded the Wikimedia Gombe Network - a grassroots initiative that grew from a solo effort into a thriving community of over 500+ individuals, with 300+ trained contributors skilled in digital literacy, information literacy, and content creation.Today, our work stands out across Nigeria, Africa, and globally - through campaigns, language revitalization efforts, and SDG-focused outreach. We've empowered new voices, preserved endangered heritage, and brought local knowledge to global platforms. My work sits at the intersection of information access, cultural preservation, and grassroots empowerment - driven by the belief that when communities own their narratives, they shape their futures.
