Mike Steib is a four-time CEO whose teams have built category-leading digital products, durable business models, and winning cultures. His two public companies delivered shareholder returns of more than 35% per year.
Mike was most recently President & CEO of TEGNA (NYSE: TGNA), a Fortune 1000 local media and technology company leading the digital transformation of local journalism. Under Mike’s leadership, TEGNA rearchitected the work of 6,000 employees around AI, expanded live streaming news by more than 50,000 hours annually, and launched the best local news app in the country. TEGNA is now the #1 local streaming provider in the U.S. and has delivered 40% annualized shareholder returns while increasing investment in local journalism. In March 2026, the company merged with Nexstar, forming the largest news organization in America.
Previously, Mike was CEO of Artsy, the leading online marketplace for buying and selling art globally. Artsy built the most popular app in the art world, accelerated revenue growth, and achieved sustained operating profitability.
Before Artsy, Mike was CEO of XO Group Inc. (NYSE: XOXO), parent company of The Knot. Mike and his team built America’s most-used and highest-rated wedding planning app and two-sided local vendor marketplace, achieving a 72 NPS, 93% unaided brand awareness, a 95% favorable employee score on Glassdoor, and more than 30% annualized shareholder returns.
Earlier in his career, Mike held leadership roles at Google, NBCUniversal, Vente-Privee USA, Walker Digital, and McKinsey & Company.
Mike served on the board of Ally Financial (NYSE: ALLY), where he chaired the Digital Transformation and Technology Committees and served on the Risk Committee. During his time on the board, Ally became the #1 consumer-rated online bank, built a top five financial services app, and delivered shareholder returns that outperformed major banking indices.
He has also chaired the boards of nonprofits Change.org, Literacy Partners, and Career Gear.
Mike is the author of The Career Manifesto (Penguin Random House, 2018), a guide for young professionals seeking more purpose and joy in their careers, and he hosted Office Hours with Mike Steib, an iHeartMedia podcast featuring leaders shaping business, politics, and culture. His work has been featured on Today, Good Morning America, Fox News, CNN, CNBC, Bloomberg, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review, and others.
Mike received BAs in Economics and International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania.
