    Enlightened Diagnostics (EnDx)
Enlightened Diagnostics, Inc. (EnDx) is an Indiana company focused on 3D cancer diagnostics. Currently, there is no way to analyze a complete tumor without compromising the structural integrity of a tissue sample, which leads to incomplete diagnoses. Our Reveal3D test is a novel microfluidics system that allows clinicians to see tumor biopsies in 3D without damaging the sample, and thus the ability to develop customized and targeted therapies for patients. EnDx will enter the growing $1B+ breast cancer diagnostics market first, and later develop similar tests for other types of cancers.

Tumor-induced Stromal STAT1 Accelerates Breast Cancer via Deregulating Tissue Homeostasis
    Molecular Cancer Research
    Jan 2017
The tumor microenvironment (TME) is a dynamic tissue space in which the tumor exists, plays a significant role in tumor initiation, and is a key contributor in cancer progression; however, little is known about tumor-induced changes in the adjacent tissue stroma. Herein, tumor-induced changes in the TME were explored at the morphological and molecular level to further understand cancer progression. Tumor-adjacent mammary glands (TAGs) displayed altered branching morphology, expansion of myofibroblasts, and increased mammosphere formation, broadly suggesting a tumor-induced field effect. FACS analysis of TAGs demonstrated an increased number of Lin-CD24+/CD49+ enriched mammary gland stem cells (MaSCs), suggesting deregulated tissue homeostas

    Evolving concepts of tumor heterogeneity
    Cell Bioscience
    Nov 2014
Past and recent findings on tumor heterogeneity have led clinicians and researchers to broadly define cancer development as an evolving process. This evolutionary model of tumorigenesis has largely been shaped by seminal reports of fitness-promoting mutations conferring a malignant cellular phenotype. Despite the major clinical and intellectual advances that have resulted from studying heritable heterogeneity, it has long been overlooked that compositional tumor heterogeneity and tumor microenvironment (TME)-induced selection pressures drive tumor evolution, significantly contributing to tumor development and outcomes of clinical cancer treatment. In this review, we seek to summarize major milestones in tumor evolution, identify key aspects
