Strong technical leader with an empathetic understanding of global issues. As the first engineer at Tech Matters, I wrote the foundational lines of code for our Aselo product, then hired and grew a team that now works with helplines on six continents, providing a secure, reliable, open source platform praised for its impact – all on a pared-down nonprofit budget. My previous technology experience includes helping to build Amazon’s recommendation features using large-scale AI, and managing engineering teams at Sift, which uses machine learning to fight fraud, supporting thousands of customers. Mixed in with this experience is six years of conflict relief field work in Southeast Asia and East Africa, where I developed a real sense of the complex problems facing the world, how and where technology can help, and where it can’t.
I am told by others that I bring grounding to those around me, and as a leader, I strive to give people the structure they need to be and become their best. I care deeply about growth in others and in myself, especially when brought to bear on successfully addressing problems that matter to all of us.
