Mihir Desai is an entrepreneur and executive leader in government-focused professional services, known for building and scaling mission-driven organizations operating in complex global environments. As Founder and CEO of Dexis, he grew the firm into a multi-continent enterprise delivering programs across more than 80 countries, with a workforce of nearly 600 professionals supporting U.S. government priorities in national security, global stability, public health, and resilience.
Under his leadership, Dexis has partnered with major federal institutions including the U.S. Department of State, Defense Security Cooperation Agency, Army Joint Program Executive Office, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The company has developed a reputation for operating effectively in high-risk and politically sensitive environments such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Ukraine, the West Bank, and Gaza, combining operational agility with strong compliance and delivery discipline. Dexis has sustained long-term growth, at times doubling in size every three years, before its successful sale to a New York–based private equity firm at a top-tier peer valuation.
Earlier in his career, Mihir worked on economic growth and resilience initiatives internationally, including service with the World Bank. His entrepreneurial work and leadership story have been featured in The Washington Post, and he has been profiled by American Express as a model global entrepreneur, with multiple recognitions tied to the Washington Government Contractor community.
He serves on the Board of Trustees of Macalester College and is involved with George Washington University’s Center for International Business Education and Research. He is also an active supporter of arts and cultural institutions in the Washington, DC region, including Arena Stage, Tango Mercurio, and the Pan American Symphony Orchestra.
