  • The Boring Company
    Director of Engineering
    The Boring Company
    Jul 2017 - Apr 2021 (3 years 10 months)
Engineer #1 at the company, I hired the engineering team and led them from initial projects to increase the speed of the used Tunnel Boring Machine(TBM) that we bought (Godot), through the design, manufacture, build, and testing of our first in-house designed TBM(Prufrock). - Along the way we also developed a novel surface launching method that saves months of schedule and millions of dollars on any given project, as well as loads of novel support equipment all directed at ways to reduce the time it takes to go from bare land, to a functioning tunnel. - By the end of my time at TBC I was responsible for Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineering, as well as the Manufacturing and Build teams.

    Ben Bowlby Racing LLC
    Jan 2014 - Dec 2015 (2 years)
I was responsible to build and lead the engineering team through execution of a very novel car concept for the Nissan GT-R LM Nismo. The car took to an extreme the aerodynamic advantages that the rules allowed if you could carry a very forward weight distribution, but required some very unconventional solutions. - We designed the complete Aero Package / Bodywork, Chassis (Tub, Doors, all internal and ergo parts), Crash Structures, Suspension (including FRIC system), Power Steering, Hydraulic Differential Control, Cooling, Lubrication, Rear Driveline, and from the Front Halfshafts outward (for 2016 we were designing the front gearbox in house as well). Completing the extensive FIA crash testing, and homologation with the FIA/ACO. -
