Co-founder, various executive roles, ultimately CEO
OPENLANE
Jul 1999 - Dec 2011 (12 years 6 months)
Together with my co-founders, in our final year at Stanford, we developed a business plan to disrupt an established industry (wholesale used car auctions) through technology and a digital marketplace business model.
We were fortunate to secure financial backing from a great investor (David Marquardt at August Capital) and we incorporated the company right after graduation in the summer of 1999.
I served in various executive roles over the next 12 years and together we grew the company from concept stage to a leading online B2B automotive auction company with close to $100 million in annual revenue and a great customer base.
Ultimately, as CEO of OPENLANE, I oversaw the successful sale of the business to KAR Global in late 2011.
