Is EventStorming effective in defining the bounded contexts used to break down monolithic software into microservices?
    Apr
This distinction-level MSc research project investigates whether EventStorming is effective in defining the Bounded Contexts used to decompose monolithic software into microservices. Existing literature advocates EventStorming and Domain-Driven Design (DDD) as effective approaches to microservice boundary identification, but lacks empirical evidence of their effectiveness. This project addresses that gap by designing and conducting a quasi-experimental EventStorming workshop with a real engineering team, triangulating findings across three data sources: a purpose-built metrics suite, semi-structured interviews, and structured observations. A key contribution is an original metrics suite evolved from Chidamber and Kemerer's Object-Oriented
