Glaucoma Specialist and Cataract Surgeon | Melbourne Eye Specialists | Vision Eye Institute | Co-Founder Nutravision
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
I'm a glaucoma and cataract surgeon and co-founder of Nutravision, where I focus on integrating lifestyle medicine, nutrition science, and neuroprotection into evidence-based glaucoma care.
Why this matters:
In my practice, patients repeatedly ask: "What else can I do?" The research backs up their instinct—studies suggest that in approximately 30% of glaucoma patients, disease progression continues even when intraocular pressure is within normal range. Yet most clinical training and patient guidance stops at eye pressure management.
When my own father was diagnosed with glaucoma, the gap between clinical care and patient empowerment became deeply personal.
My approach:
I developed the Proactive Glaucoma Care structured framework addressing five pillars beyond IOP control: Exercise, Stress, Sleep, Nutrition, and Neuroprotection, including the NP-10 System.
This bridges the gap between clinical ophthalmology and lifestyle medicine, giving patients actionable guidance for the 99% of life that happens outside the clinic.
My goal: help patients gain the conviction that they've done everything possible to protect their vision—so they'll never look back wondering if they've done enough.
Background:
I was raised in a family that valued traditional Chinese medicine and nutrition—goji berries for eyesight, ginseng for cognitive function.
I studied at the University of Edinburgh and subsequently trained in ophthalmology across centres of excellence in the UK, Switzerland, and New Zealand.
Today I practice at the Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital and in private practice across Melbourne, with over 70 peer-reviewed publications and active involvement in training the next generation of ophthalmologists.
Current work:
- Clinical practice: Glaucoma and cataract surgery
- Nutravision: Co-founder, developing evidence-based nutritional interventions for eye health
- Academic roles: Honorary positions at University of Melbourne and Centre for Eye Research Australia
Let's connect if you're interested in:
- Integrating lifestyle medicine into ophthalmology
- Nutrition science and neuroprotection research
- Patient-centered glaucoma care models
- Collaboration in eye health innovation
