John Finn

John Finn is the founder and CEO of GreenSlate, a software company providing payroll, production accounting, and tax incentive services to the entertainment industry. John graduated from LeMoyne College with a degree in Accounting and worked at KPMG for three years, where he earned his license as a Certified Public Accountant. In 1995, John started working in the film business as a freelance production accountant, where he worked on many independent low budget feature films, as well as an assistant accountant on larger studio productions, such as “Flirting with Disaster,” “Marvin’s Room” and “Extreme Measures,” before pivoting to post production accounting on films such as “Summer of Sam,” “He Got Game,” “You’ve Got Mail”, and “Practical Magic”. Around this time period, John started an accounting firm to specialize in production and post production accounting called John Finn and Associates (JFA). As a production and post production accountant, John worked with payroll companies specializing in providing payroll and software for producers to track their costs versus the budget of each production. In 2004, John decided to start GreenSlate (FKA Indiepay), because he recognized there was a need for better service and software within the industry, specifically in regards to production payroll and accounting software. John is responsible for GreenSlate’s strategic, operational, and financial initiatives. His background in accounting and finance has enabled him to successfully lead the company through rapid growth and development while providing industry-leading customer service. GreenSlate has become one of the most trusted names in business and financial services for the entertainment industry, providing services to major studios, TV networks, production companies, and Indie filmmakers. GreenSlate is dedicated to advancing the business of content production by seamlessly integrating people, processes, and tech to meet the essential needs of content producers. This commitment to excellence has led to significant growth and recognition in the industry. GreenSlate was honored three times on the Inc. 5000 List of fastest-growing companies in America, in 2019, 2022, and 2023. In addition, the company was listed as one of Inc.
