    A Multi-Faceted Solution to Slow Spread of Anopheles Borne Diseases in Guyana

    Our proposal won the Global Health Case Competition at Ohio University for 2014. Our case was to identify and postulate a potential solution to slow down the spread of Anopheles vector borne diseases in Guyana, including malaria. We won the competition, beating out 19 other teams and won the opportunity to go travel to Guyana in order to implement our plan with the Government of Guyana. We will travel to Guyana between August 1 - August 15, 2015.

Our team is offering a multi-faceted communication strategy grounded in our core message of engagement through empowerment. This strategy incorporates three aspects: the #Givea2016 campaign, an online and mobile application called Voice, and student outreach. By first engaging students in the brand and thus the product, we intend to provide them with opportunities to learn and discuss relevant social and political issues and civically engage them through interactive media.     My team collaborated with the management at Harley-Davidson of Saigon on two project charges involving the increase of their positive public relations and improving corporate reciprocity. We completed motorcycle market and industry analysis research in America as well as Vietnam. The team developed a SWOT and Industry Analysis relating specifically to Harley-Davidson in the Vietnamese motorcycle industry. We researched public relations tactics and solutions; landed on humanitarian outreach programs as our primary focus for our project. We accomplished site visits and interviews in Ohio and Vietnam.

    My team collaborated with with a division of the Jamaican Ministry of National Security, the Citizen's Security and Justice Program (CSJP), on a developmental plan for the improvement and creation of micro-business opportunities. The other underlying goal was to develop these businesses in hopes of reducing the crime rate. We completed research on micro-financing institutions and their potential implications for the country of Jamaica. We presented our findings, implications and recommendations to the CSJP. We proposed that they apply for Kiva, a micro-financing institution, to help them reach their developmental goals.
