Recognizing Race at the University of Michigan
    Oct 2013 - Dec 2013 (3 months)
As a final project for my first Minor in Writing class, I blended my passion for social justice education with my skills of writing, organization, and multiple media platforms. This project, entitled "Recognizing Race" was re-purposed from a personal narrative I wrote, and subsequently re-mediated into the Prezi medium for a hypothetical freshmen seminar, instead of the usual pen and paper format of academic writing.

With the goals of reaching freshmen students at the University of Michigan in an engaging way and providing real-life applications to relevant social justice topics, my presentation centered on campus specific issues involving race and available campus resources.

    Inequalities in Campus Majors
    Mar 2013
As a requirement for my Practice in a University Settings class, we were asked to explore a social inequality on campus in depth. Our group decided to interview and research the ways in which STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) experiences at the college level were affected by different identities that students hold. Our research explored many intersecting identities, and showcased our group's ability to cohesively create a polished presentation based in research and experiential learning.

Different Family, Different Culture, Same Me
Excellence In FirstYear Writing Gayle Morris Sweetland Center for Writing Ann Arbor MI
    Apr 2012
My essay, focusing on a visit to my father's Puerto Rican family, was ultimately one of the most cathartic writing experiences of my undergraduate career. The reflections that I was able to make about this short moment in time are ones that continue to influence my identity and experiences as I progress and reflect creatively as a writer.
This is a community-created genome.
