I earned $1,000 extra this time since I'm a first-gen college student! I was awarded again in July 2025!

The Hattie M. Strong Foundation is a charitable private foundation incorporated in the District of Columbia in 1928. The scholarship program is aimed at college students enrolled in teacher-training programs at selected partnering institutions. Mrs. Strong was dedicated to helping others less fortunate than herself. The list of her charitable activities and honors is far too lengthy to include here but includes the establishment of the Hattie M. Strong Foundation in 1928.The consistent theme which ran through all her philanthropic activities was the desire to help people to help themselves. She disliked charity and constantly stressed the value of work, dedication and strength of character. Recipients needed to have Good Academic Standing!
