Eurelectric
Jun 2010
In 2010, the prize went to Mr Patrick McCartan from the Dublin Institute of Technology for his proposal to create a Global Electricity Community Programme. According to his proposal, a platform gathering industry and government leaders from all around the world should be created to better address the climate challenge and build a worldwide super grid. The jury was intrigued by this proposal and found it concise and innovative. Its clear message and vision conveys the sense of urgency needed for governments to act. The prize was handed out by Dr William Kyte, OBE and Chief Advisor on International Climate Policy for EURELECTRIC. Dr Kyte is also Senior Advisor on Climate Change for E.ON AG, Honorary President of the UK Emissions Trading Group
